Just 30 minutes from downtown Charleston, Summerville is known as The Flower Town in the Pines. Rich in history with a focus on economic development, Summerville features world-class sports venues and superior schools, making it a truly special place for new home communities in the Charleston market.

Situated on a pine-forested ridge, Summerville was first settled in the late 1700s by residents of the South Carolina low country looking for relief during summer months from heat, humidity, mosquitoes, and disease. Modernization came to town with the arrival of the railroad in the early 1800s and led the village to incorporation. In the 1890s, the International Congress of Physicians in Paris declared Summerville as one of the two best places in the world for the treatment and recovery of lung disorders; the ensuing visitors who came for their health fell in love with the town, built winter homes and often became permanent residents.

It doesn’t take long to understand why the Summerville area is so well known for its history and its gardens. The nearby Magnolia Plantation, built in 1676 on the Ashley River, is the oldest public garden in American history. Open daily, it has been voted one of the most beautiful gardens in the country. Middleton Place is America’s oldest landscape gardens, and features horseback riding and carriage rides. Drayton Hall, also built along the Ashley River, is the oldest unaltered plantation open to the public today.

Summerville also has another place in history. It also holds the record for the world’s largest sweet tea, 2,524 gallons! That record was set on National Tea Day on June 10, 2016; it was brewed with 210 pounds of local tea from the Charleston Tea Plantation and 1,700 pounds of Dixie Crystals sugar!

Known as a nurturing community for children, Summerville has an extensive system of parks, including Gahahan Park, which features a sports complex with six baseball/softball fields and a football field, and the 5,000-square-foot Summerville Skate Park.

Public schools serving the families at North Creek are Cane Bay Elementary School, Cane Bay Middle School, and Cane Bay High School. Go, Cobras!

All these amenities make North Creek in Summerville one of the finest new home communities in Charleston. Located at 403 Snowy Plover Lane, Summerville, SC, 29486, the sales office at North Creek is open 12 to 6 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays.
