Family Friendly 4th of July Activities in Raleigh for 2017

Looking for family fun this 4th of July in Raleigh? We’ve found some of the best family activities and events to experience this holiday weekend near the True Homes Raleigh area.

 

Independence Day Block Party 12 p.m. Sunday
Red, white, and BREW! Nickelpoint Brewing Co. and Neuse River Brewing Co. will be celebrating 4th of July weekend in Raleigh with their second-annual Block Party! They’re going to close the road off from traffic to make room for all of the beer, food, shopping, and fun: spend some time perusing and shopping the local vendor stands. Grab a bite from one of the many delicious food trucks filling the area. And of course, have a delicious beer to two to toast this special holiday weekend. Whether you spend an hour or the whole day, this event is a great excuse to get together with friends and family to celebrate the 4th of July in Raleigh.

Joel Lane Museum Open House, 11 a.m. Tuesday
Known as “The Birthplace of Raleigh,” The Joel Lane Museum will be sponsoring its 25th annual Independence Day Open House this year. The house will be open for touring and will be staffed by costumed docents who will be happy to answer any questions you and your family may have about this historic property. Living historians will also be on the grounds, demonstrating various aspects of colonial life. Visitors will even be able to participate in hands-on activities like writing with a quill pen and making rag dolls. There will also be old-fashioned crafts and games for the children—not to mention free lemonade for all! The garden is stunning in its full summer glory, and herbs and trees from the gardens will be on sale to the public. But that’s not all your family will be able to experience at this fun event: the 1769 plantation manor house, the circa 1790 “kitchen” building, and the Visitors Center and Museum Store will also be open. Admission for this yearly favorite is free, and donations are requested.

The ‘Works,12 p.m. Tuesday
Downtown Raleigh is at it again as the one and only host of the City’s Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza. This Independence Day Celebration starts at noon with with live music, a beer and wine tent, kids rides and games, Aerial Performances, Cirque de Vol street performers, eating contests, food and art vendors, and much more. After you’ve spent the day having some FREE fun with the entire family, look forward to an incredible fireworks show that is sure to light up the sky over The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. There are lots of parking spots downtown as well as Park & Ride options to make it easy to visit this spectacular event.
